DN Agrar Group’s project transforms dairy manure into high-quality, granular organic fertilizer using advanced Kohshin composting technology.
The main objective
of DN AGRAR Group S.A. is to produce solid organic fertilizer as defined in REGULATION (EU) 2019/1009 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 5 June 2019, using strictly organic materials namely dairy manure adjusted with other organic wastes (feathers from slaughter, blood, water, finished product) as a sub-material intended to increase the moisture and obtain an optimal porosity in the compost pile.
Operating at two farms in Romania, the system processes manure through an accelerated, 30‑40 day aerobic cycle that eliminates pathogens and odors while significantly reducing methane emissions.
This sustainable solution not only improves soil health and fertility but also supports local economies by creating green jobs and new revenue streams. In line with international sustainability standards, the project is undergoing Gold Standard certification to secure carbon credits and further its commitment to climate action and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
The manure fermentation is aerobic and takes place at temperatures of about 70 degrees C, completely sterilizing the product by eliminating germs and parasites and reducing to zero the germination rate of the seeds in animal manure.
Associated odors caused by microbial decomposition of volatile compounds are eliminated by the use of odorization systems.
