The Straja Project

One of the projects initiated in 2023 is the Straja Project, DN AGRAR’s new farm.

The operations at Straja farm started in March, 2025.

This strategic investment will consolidate DN AGRAR’s position, of an EUROPEAN LEADER in the dairy production sector.

The Straja Farm, will cover a total area of 10 hectares, and will feature two modern milking parlors system and will have a total capacity of 5,000 animals.

The Straja project will be realized in several stages, the main objective was to start milking production as soon as possible.

At the same time, in order to limit external purchases of productive cows, for this project we will supply most of the cows, internally, through the young stock breeding program we are running at Prodlact farm.

The financing method for this project was decided at the Extraordinary General Meeting of DN AGRAR shareholders in March 2024. During the meeting, it was agreed that the project would be financed through a EUR 9.2 million credit facility from Exim Banca Românească, intended for the construction of the farm as well as the purchase of equipment and livestock. DN AGRAR will contribute 20.78% of the total investment from its own resources.

DN AGRAR’s objective is to reach maximum capacity at the Straja farm in the coming years, totalling a herd of 5,000 animals, including both dairy cows and young cattle.

Work is progressing at the new DN AGRAR Straja farm.

The new Straja farm is taking shape.

Project Timeline

Phase I - Completed

2023

This first phase was completed in November 2023 and involved site preparation for the construction of the new farm and additional buildings. Construction of the new manure lagoon was also completed.

Regarding the milk production activity, we did all the preparations for populating the first milking parlor. In parallel, we started raising the youngstock through the program developed within the Prodlact farm.

Furthermore, the process for obtaining the construction permits for the animal shelters and the grain mill has been initiated. These facilities will span an area of 5 hectares, adjacent to the investment already underway.

Phase II - Completed

2024

2024 marked the second phase of the Straja project, DN AGRAR’s new farm.

During this stage, the access roads to the farm and the foundation construction were completed, a sigificant part of the main hall is done, and the water tanks construction was also finalized.

Phase III - In Progress

2025

In 2025, we will be implementing the third phase of the project.

This phase involves the construction of the outdoor stables for the animals, completing the installation of the milking parlors, construction of the fodder shelter, offices for the staff, and launching production activities at the new farm.

In the beginning of 2025, the first milking parlor and the outdoor stables for the animals had been completed, the farm being equipping to house a total of 1,100 cows.

Production at the Straja farm officially began in March 2025.

Additionally, the construction of the farm's second milking parlor was finalized in April.

Our objective for 2025 is to gradually increase the cow herd at the farm, aiming to reach a total of 1,800 cows by the end of the year.

Phase IV

2026

Phase four of the Straja project, scheduled for 2026, will involve expanding the farm’s capacity. This means constructing additional outdoor paddocks, supplementary feed barns, and other necessary adjacent buildings.

By the end of 2026, we estimate the Straja farm will house approximately 3,400 animals, including both dairy cows and pregnant heifers.

In addition, to optimize processes and streamline certain milking operations, this year we plan to install the two types of robots that were previously implemented at the DN AGRAR Cut and Lacto Agrar farms.

Phase IV

2027

Once this final stage is completed, we estimate that the Straja farm will reach full capacity.

Straja farm will be fully operational and productive at maximum capacity by 2027, with a herd of 4,000 dairy cows and 1,000 young cattle.

Additionally, we estimate that by the end of 2027 / beginning of 2028, the Straja farm will have a daily production of approximately 100,000 liters of milk.
